There’s been word for a while that we should expect a refresh of 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro before end of year, and now we have another report backing that up, let’s take a look.
In a report from the DigiTimes, we have further word that MacBook Pro is getting new 14/16-inch brothers before Christmas, yay! They don’t specifically mention sizes or models in their report but come on, what else could Apple be releasing? MacBook Pro Smol Edition?
Back towards the end of August, Mark Gurman said via his Power On newsletter that MacBook Pros featuring M2 Pro and M2 Max chips were deep into development and testing so that’s been the expected chip architecture for the 14/16-inch refresh.
So yes, we’ve been expecting new MacBook Pros by the end of this year for a hot minute now though the big question has been exactly how the upcoming M2 Pro and M2 Max chips will be featured – 3nm or 5nm and for that we’ll just have to wait.
Temper your expectations for this MacBook Pro refresh as well, with Apple having just refreshed the MacBook Air into line with the 2021 MacBook Pro – notch and all – we’re getting more of the same.

Generally speaking, people have really liked the notch-filled MacBook Pro and I’m sure Apple sees no reason to make large changes.
It’s gonna be a happy Apple Christmas everybody! Remember, Apple has an October event coming that is set to majorly feature iPad and Mac so expect announcement of new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models then. Ho ho ho, Merry Tim-mas!
