Google has actually had a hiring slow for a hot minute now – since July 12th, but now we have actually confirmation that Google is straight up pausing hiring for certain divisions.
Thanks to The Information, we have word that Senior Vice President Prabhakar Raghavan has announced at least a two-week total hiring pause for his divisions – Search, Assistant, Geo, Ads, Commerce and Payments.

This comes after Google’s announcement of a hiring slow earlier in July, though CEO Sundar Pichai pointed out that they would still be hiring for engineering, technical and other critical roles. ‘Tis the season it seems. Google obviously isn’t the first to announce any sort of slow down, nor will they be the last.
Apple was just reported to have a general slow down on spending for 2023 on Monday so let’s see which other large corporations will follow suit this week.
