Previously on “When is this f**king headset coming out”:
Earlier this week Kuo Ming-Chi reported that while we could expect the first generation of Apple’s eagerly awaited AR/VR headset in 2023 – Apple was already planning for a second generation release in 2025.
Now we get THIS report from ETNews suggesting the cheaper followup headset will actually be released a year after the first model, 2024.
Apple is also developing a 2nd gen XR device at the same time, with a goal of releasing it in 2024. The 2nd gen product is expected to be much lighter in weight than the 1st gen product and to equipped with call function.
ETNews
Now I’m usually not one to pit sources against each other, but Kuo has been a much more accurate provider of information than ETNews. If you go by AppleTrack – a site tracking Apple related leakers and their accuracy, run by the dashing but not so bright Sam Kohl, Kuo Ming-Chi is sitting at 72.5% accuracy and ETNews at only 55.5%. So there’s that.
Let’s put aside the potential inaccuracies for a second though, and take the ETNews report as it stands. There’s some interesting info in there! Like Apple’s second gen headset coming with a call function, the implications surrounding that is pretty interesting.
Imagine someone walking in the park with f**king VR goggles on, dude. THAT is our future.

Alrighty ETNews, let’s see whatcha’ got. Bump that 55.5% up champ, those are rookie numbers.
