Before the iPhone 14 can even be announced, reports are coming in regarding the iPhone 15 line – specifically regarding the iPhone 15 Pro Max…
In a report from Kuo Ming-Chi, per his blog, we learn that he expects the iPhone 15 Pro Max to not only feature a new periscope lens – but to be the only model to have it.
Now while periscope lenses aren’t exactly new, the Galaxy S22 Ultra already comes with one, they will be new to Apple devices. The difference between iPhone 13 Pro’s telephoto lens and the Galaxy S22 Ultra’s is quite staggering – 3x optical/15x digital zoom vs 10x optical/100x digital zoom – so a move to implement this tech into iPhone would definitely catch Apple up in the race to have the most stupidly-powerful camera.
Kuo has some very interesting predictions regarding Apple’s implementation of the periscope lens:
The telephoto camera of iPhone will use a periscope design from 2023. The models that adopt a periscope are:
(1) 2H23 new iPhone: iPhone 15 Pro Max.
(2) 2H24 new iPhone: iPhone 16 Pro Max and iPhone 16 Pro.

This would definitely give the iPhone 15 Pro Max a very welcomed “Pro Max” feature over its normie brothers. Kuo also mentions the iPhone 16 in his predictions, but holy crap I draw the line at two unannounced iPhone generations. My feeble mind cannot keep track of so many features and Pro Max Super Edition models.
Give Kuo’s blog a read, he really goes hard into supply chain predictions and you get a serious feel for all of the moving parts of iPhone production – there’s so many suppliers and manufacturers it makes my head spin.
