Mark Gurman’s Power On newsletter has graced us with its arrival on a lovely Sunday morning. In it, Mark covers a lot of already broken news from earlier in the week, however in his Q&A at the end he gives his thoughts on Apple Watch’s still unannounced Low-Power Mode and when he expects it to arrive.
Q: What’s with the Apple Watch’s low-power mode?
A: The low-power mode I’ve been talking about for the Apple Watch — which will let you use apps and other features in a low-power state for the first time — is still in development and on track for release around the same time as the public version of watchOS 9 this fall.

Makes sense. watchOS already has a Power Reserve mode that dumbs the watch down to only time-on-screen to preserve battery, but a proper Low-Power mode that enables the use of complications and potentially apps would be invaluable paired with the upcoming “rugged” Apple Watch.
There’s no doubt some jabroni is gonna get himself stuck on a mountain with only his Apple Watch rUggED ExTREME sUpER ACTivitY editioN so it’s better to add the feature sooner than later.
