Apple is said to start mass production of third-generation AirPods in August, with plans to launch the third-generation earbuds later this year, according to a new report from Nikkei Asia.
The latest rumor in Apple’s product release schedule also mentions the release of an all-5G iPhone line-up in 2022, including a revamped iPhone SE sporting the not-yet-announced A15 processor, and new MacBook Pro’s slated for later this fall.
With rumors flying around of a refreshed release of Apple entry-level AirPods for a while now, this closes in on a timeline of production and finally release sometime this fall.

“In addition to shuffling its iPhone lineup, Apple has also been preparing updated versions of other products for release in the second half of 2021 in hopes of tapping an expected economic recovery from the coronavirus pandemic. These include MacBook Pros and a new version of AirPods, the company’s popular wireless earbuds, which will start production next month.”

The third-generation AirPods are rumored to adopt a similar design to the current AirPods Pro, with shorter stems and customizable silicone ear tips; however, they would, of course, lack some of the ‘Pro’ features such as Active Noise Cancellation.
