Antivirus Creator John McAfee Hangs Himself in Prison – Rest in Spaghetti, He Was Real Ready

Antivirus software mogul found dead in prison

This is by far the darkest story I will ever write here on FrontPageTech.com. What can I say, I’m a tech-loving Crime Junkie. I first spotted this on the Breaking911 Twitter feed and said “yeah, that’s tech” – so, here we are.

Antivirus creator John McAfee, 75, was found dead in his prison cell in Barcelona after the Spanish high court had authorized his extradition to the U.S., the Catalan justice department said, confirming an earlier report from El Mundo newspaper.

Department Justices reported that “prison surveillance professionals and medical services” initially performed CPR to no avail when finally doctors pronounced him dead shortly after CPR began.

Several other departments traveled to the prison site where McAfee was found dead and are now presumably involved in the ongoing investigation with initial reports stating:

“everything points it could be a death by suicide”

If you are wondering why the Antivirus software mogul was in prison in the first place, you’re not alone. Apparently, there were several pending charges here in the U.S. with the most notable one being…wrongful death/murder. No biggie.

Gregory Faull, McAfee’s neighbor at the time, was discovered dead from a single gunshot to the back of his head on the second floor of his home located just two properties south of McAfee’s home on northern Ambergris Caye. Next, to his body, police recovered a 9MM shell. Police recovered several pieces of evidence from Faull’s home as part of the investigation and requested McAfee’s presence for questioning. However, McAfee fled the country shortly after. Six Years after Faull’s death, his family officially sued McAfee for his death in 2018.

Among the lesser charges, we’re that of tax evasion and were initially thought to be the reason he fled the country in the first place. Sounds like he knew what the bigger potatoes were and peaced out for those reasons instead.

Lawyer for McAfee, Javier Villalba, has since confirmed his death to Reuters and The New York Times stating:

“This is the result of a cruel system that had no reason to keep this man in jail for so long,”

In an exclusive interview from prison to The Independent newspaper in the UK last year, McAfee stated:

“I plan to never return to the US”

Sounds like he wasn’t kidding. Rest in spaghetti, we will forgetti.
