Apple’s brand new iPad Pro is bonkers. Inside, Apple said f*** it, and gave it the M1 chip — the same chip you’ll find inside of the latest Macs. But that wasn’t enough. They also ship with a RAM configuration up to 16GB.
But it turns out, no matter how you configure your iPad Pro, iPad OS is here to cuck you.
Last night, Procreate published an update to their popular drawing app, optimized for the new M1 chip. But in doing so, they exposed something troubling within Apple’s third-party app policy: apps are still limited to just 5GB of RAM.
To be fair, WWDC is right around the corner and things could technically change for iPad OS in the near future — but even if that happens, the next public version of iPad OS won’t be available for months. By the time a new update rolls out, iPad Pro buyers will have had their iPads for quite a long time. Even those that shelled out the stripper money for the 16GB model are still capped at just 5GB per app.
This makes the iPad Pro even more confusing.
