We literally just reported that Twitter had finally opened up Verification again, but I guess f*** all that.
After just ONE WEEK, Twitter rage quits and stops accepting new applications for Verification on the platform.
Like, what did they even expect here? They had this thing paused for about three years. Every small YouTuber with a webcam and journalist with a WordPress blog was hoping to get their own special blue checkmark. They had to have known that as soon as they opened applications, they would be WRECKED with submissions.
The eligible categories that Twitter listed for Verification were:
- Government
- Companies, brands, and organizations
- News organizations and journalists
- Entertainment
- Sports and gaming
- Activists, organizers, and other influential individuals
And now, those categories are the following:
- Nobody
LOL, gg Twitter. Nailed it.
